Saint Days: Charles Chapman Grafton, Bishop and Ecumenist
Charles Chapman Grafton lived from 1830-1912. He was an ardent supporter of the Oxford Movement. Ordained a deacon in 1855 and then a priest in 1858, he co-founded the Society of St. John the Evangelist, a religious order. In 1888, he was consecrated as the second bishop of Fond du Lac in Wisconsin.
Let us remember Charles Grafton in our prayers today:
Almighty God, we give you thanks for the ministry of Charles Grafton who labored that the Church of Jesus Christ might be one: Grant that we, instructed by his teaching and example, and knit together in unity by your Spirit, may ever stand firm upon the one foundation, which is Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
